Required Reading

For a glimpse into life for many Filipinos, read this.

It's about the life of squatters in Metro Manila, where we live.  Squatters are called "informal settlers" here. 

In case you haven't the inclination to follow the link, I'll share some sobering facts.  Metro Manila has a population of about 25 million people (about 12 million in the city proper and the remainder in the closely located provinces).  Metro Manila is 247 square miles- just over one tenth the size of Utah County.  About twenty percent of the population in Metro Manila are squatters- 5 MILLION people. 

Just imagine, when you lay your head down tonight in your cozy house, what it would be like if 5 million squatters moved into an area the size of Utah Valley, on top of the 20 million people who were already living there.
