No Place Like Home for the Holidays

We travel for lots of holidays and while it's always a good time to see somewhere new or spend time in Arizona, I have to admit I loved this Christmas- we were just home.  It was extremely low-key, but we were with people we loved and had a great time.

Dear Liza,
It's totally fine that you didn't come home for Christmas.
However, you have been replaced by a sheep dog.
Love, Us.
After Christmas Eve at Grandma Ellie's, we came home and opened our PJ's, and the girls were dead asleep by 10:30.  Kate was up early Christmas morning, and Maggie slept and slept and slept.  It was torture!

She got her American Girl Doll!
Maggie has never IN HER LIFE requested a doll, so imagine our surprise when she not only asked for a doll for Christmas, but asked for one of the nicest dolls money can buy.  We'd received an American Girl Catalogue in the mail, and she thumbed through that thing until it was falling apart.  I figured since it very well could be the only doll I ever buy her, I would get her exactly what she wanted.  I think I was more excited for her to open it than she was to receive it- and she was REALLY excited.

A NEW PHASE OF LIFE BEGINS:

Kate's "big" present was a Kindle Fire.  It has ushered in a new way of life for Bruce and I as parents- managing screen time, talking about internet safety, and Christmas money spent on apps and music instead of toys.
We are fully obsessed with Frozen- Kiki got the princess dolls and Kate bought the soundtrack for her Kindle.  It is non-stop "Let it Go" and "Fixer-Upper" around here.

The aftermath.
I made so very many pans of cinnamon rolls- it was nonstop for several days and I didn't even give them to everyone we wanted to.  Oh well- maybe next year.  When I consider the vast amount of butter and sugar in a pan of these, it's probably for the best for our public health that I didn't give them to everyone.
LaBoeuf had an excellent Christmas- he got a new woobie and treats and toys galore.
He also received a rectal exam from a 2 year old wielding a flashlight but I don't think he's considering that a "gift."
The post-present post-breakfast post-candy coma set in.

Sleeping in heavenly peace.
We had Christmas breakfast with Grandma Ellie, Grandpa George, and our friends Chris and Anne and their girls.  Christmas dinner was with Grandpa Jack, Grandma Kay, and the rest of the Barratt clan.  It was a mellow but happy day.

I love this! And, I must say that I was one of the lucky ones to get a cinnamon roll and it was beyond awesome! If only you had time and interest to run your own bakery . . . I would be one of your biggest supporters! Love you all!
