Running continues to be
my link to sanity. It's cheaper than therapy...maybe. I have been burning through three or four pairs of shoes a year plus my race fees plus whatever else cute I need for running gear. My first race of the season was the Ogden Half. We ran it in an absolute downpour. It was misery. I'd had a time in mind for a long time, but I happily let any expectations go and just let it be a training run for the AF Canyon Half which was 4 weeks later.

| We were soaked to the skin. It was never my intention to wear a fleece jacket for the race, but it was too darn cold to throw it in the donation bin at the start like I intended. |

Look at us! I think we all had blue lips.
Liza, Steph, and I went back to our hotel, turned the heat up as high as it would go, and took turns laying under the covers and taking the hottest showers we could stand. |
I had better luck in June! I wanted to break 1:40, so I was thrilled with this time. I placed sixty-something out of about 1200 women.

Liza and I.
She would not care to discuss this race.
Take my word for it. |

| The race was a fundraiser for cancer treatment and we were happily surprised to see this big picture of my aunt and uncle at the finish line. I was already crying over my PR and then this really got the waterworks going. |

Lately Kiki has been wanting to run with me too.
"I want to run one mile," she will say.
I'm slowly sneaking up the distance. |
I'm branching out to trail running- we did a 12 or 13 mile trail run a couple Saturdays ago. There were six of us running- three sets of sisters. It made me happy. I'm registered for a 17 mile trail race on August 3, and the Big Cottonwood Full on Sept 14. I met the man who is going to be a doctor at the marathon medical tent. "Maybe I'll see you," he said. I replied, "No offense, but if I'm seeing you at my marathon I'm going to be super pissed."
