Mr. and Mrs. Ford Come to Visit

Bruce's best friend Rob and his new wife Kristi stopped by for a few days on their way from DC to AZ.  Our first stop was Battlecreek Falls in Pleasant Grove.  The girls were quickly soaked to the skin.

Our tour of exciting Cedar Hills continued at a nearby park...it's pretty much nonstop around here.

I know I'm not the only one who lets my dog drink out of drinking fountains.
Consider yourself warned.
Next, we tackled Timp Cave.  Everyone did pretty good on the hike, and the girls saved their whining for the hike downhill home, which I didn't understand.  Kristi did ask if I knew ANY, ANY HIKE AT ALL that did not go uphill.  Unfortunately, I do not.

Poor little Mags was exhausted.  I found her fast asleep among her stuffed animals.  Of course, it seemed to be her only option since her bed looked like...

THIS.
Rob and Kristi were here for a momentous occasion- Kiki giving up her blanket.  In June, Bruce promised Maggie a bearded dragon if she would stop using her blanket.  When July came, I told her that if she were to give up the blanket willingly by July 31, she could have a bearded dragon, but one way or another, on August 1 the blanket was gone, so she might as well give it up willingly.  It was only July 19 when Kiki caught sight of a baby bearded dragon at the pet store, and that was it for her.  She put her blanket in the tree so the blanket fairy could come for it (more on that later), and we became the proud new owners of a bearded dragon.

Her name is Daisy and she is really cute.
The Blanket Fairy started when Kate was little and giving up her binkies.  I saw Jo on "Supernanny" have a child gather up all of his binkies and put them in a bucket in a tree, and then the Binky Fairy came and left a toy for every binky the child had left in the bucket.  When the time came for Kate to not have binkies anymore, I stole that idea and it worked great.  She has always remembered it, and she told Kiki that the fairy would come for her blanket too.

In actuality, Rob took the blanket when Kiki was inside with Daisy and threw it away in the trash can across the street.  Two days later I received a panicked call from my neighbor- Kiki's blanket was in the garbage and she was bringing it back immediately.  I laughed and told her under no circumstances was that blankie to come anywhere near this place.  Kiki has been adjusting okay- we still catch her sucking her thumb now and again but not nearly as consistently as she was before.

I just realized that this post was about Rob and Kristi's visit and I didn't really take any pictures of them.  They were here, I promise.
