Just Adding a Little Plumbing to My Sand Castle, Thanks.

Another happy day of sightseeing.
Thanks for the binoculars, Grandpa Jack.
Kate is feeling better today- not a 100%, but enough that we made some fun stops.

Here we are at the Sea Lion Caves, at the Heceta Lighthouse Viewpoint.
The Sea Lion Caves were a little bit of a bust- the sea lions had gone elsewhere to feed, so we mainly saw a cave. Fortunately the views were great...
There was popcorn...
We saw a lighthouse...
...and as it turns out, the sea lions had taken up residence just up the road.
They were right on the other side of this wall.

Then we had a picnic at the beach.
My dad thinks the pioneers were a bunch of quitters.
After seeing the sights today, I'm inclined to agree.

A seal came to say hello.

He must have been an escapee from a local circus, because he seemed to be posing.
Not long after this picture was taken, Kiki got knocked over by a wave. Bruce hesitated to run out after her because he had "real" shoes on. "Who's child is that?" huffed the old lady next to me. Bruce did rescue her in the end, but he admitted if so many people weren't watching he would have let her tough it out. She wasn't in any danger, she was just insulted.

We made brief stops at a spout and Devil's Churn.
We hit the aquarium in Newport on the way to our hotel in Lincoln City.
Here I am attempting to prevent Kiki from wading in a touch pool.
"That one over there!" she was insisting.
We walked through these cool underwater tunnels.
The floors were clear as well.
I laughed- it looks like these kids are all under a spell.
We played with some animals.

Then it was on to our hotel. We have been on the move for the last 4 days, and it will be nice to have a home base for the next 4.
"I could never be on the lam." I said to Bruce this morning.
"Why not?"
"'Cause I'd be sick of having to repack and go somewhere new every day."
Kate flew her first kite.
Our hotel is in the background.

Then something terrible happened to her feet.
As you can tell by this picture, it's been a real crappy time.

Why have we never vacationed there? It's beautiful! Also, congratulations on finally getting an acceptable hotel. I'm glad Kate is OK. We were worried about her. Welcome to school days when they pick up every virus under the sun.

Okay you don't have to take us with you on vacation but will you give us your itinerary? Hope the rest of your stay is fabulous.
