After two months of training, the big day finally arrived: Half Marathon Day.
I ate my lucky breakfast (eggs and chia) and wore my lucky bra (leopard print).
Liza kept me from being too afraid- she was very encouraging.
Some pre-race photos:

The course was probably one of the easier ones you could hope for- a one-way out of a canyon. Frankly, I was a little shocked by the number of hills. I sucked it up though.
This photo was taken about the time my back sweat soaked through my running tights and then through the swedish fish I had stashed in my hind pocket, effectively cementing my butt cheeks together with "Swedish Syrup" for the last few miles.
Bruce was assigned two jobs: Babysit. Cheer.
He did both admirably well, except for this momentary lapse in judgement below, where he totally mocked my pain.

Liza and her friend Jamie. They beat me bad but didn't even gloat.
Did I mention this is one of those crazy races that has a theme and people wear costumes?
Yep, people run it looking like this:

Don't laugh too hard, those three all beat me too.
Crossing the finish line at 2:11. I beat my goal by almost 4 minutes.

"Holy ****. I'm glad I'm finished."
Then we went to Chili's and ate like a pack of wolves.
I would have never done this without Liza's gentle prodding, but I'm glad I did.

Way to go!!! I knew you could do it! I really need to introduce you to Gu or Blocks. Swedish fish: less effective. :) Congrats! Did you have FUN?
Congrats!!! (Were they regular shaped Swedish Fish or were shaped as dolphins? - cuz then the syrup would be blue) Way to go, I can strongly state that I'll never run a half marathon. later,Sarah
Congratulations! I saw your mom today at grandma's. She said you were running today. I am glad you posted I was wondering how it went. Looks like a job well done.
Rockstar! I am so proud of you!!! I'm not going to run tonight, but I am going to sing standing up for 3 straight hours...it's my version of fitness. I hope we do as well as you did!!

LOVE YOU!
Becca, we are so proud of you!!!
We knew you could do it!!
That took a lot of physical and mental preparation. Way to go Bruce. Sounds like you were a great support to Becca.
What an example you set for all of us and the little girls.
I am sure none of us will be trying to compete with you this Thanksgiving. Love, Mom and Dad
FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC!! Very proud of you!!!
Despite what mom said, we are gunning for you this thanksgiving. The race is ON! Impressive, but can you run half that??? We'll see...
Yahoo! That is awesome!
Way to go!!! The only reason Liza beat you, is her legs are longer. I was noticing that fact when looking at your before race pictures. Just cut her down at the knees and make it fair. Just kidding.
Proud of you!
You are awesome!! I was thinking about you all day on Saturday and hoping it went well for you!! Maybe Amber and I should join you for the Moab 1/2.
Yay!!! Isn't it the best feeling when you're done?! I did my first this year (MUCH slower than you) & have hopes to do another one in January. That might be pushed back to Moab. We'll see!! Good Job!!!
