Kiki's First Dance Recital and Kate's Last Dance Recital

Friday and Saturday night Kate and Kiki had their dance recitals. Kate has been a proven performer, but I knew Kiki could go either way, so I started bribing her early in the week (with Squinkies, in case you're curious as to what it takes to guarantee her compliance).

They were very excited to get to wear makeup. I even let them wear eyeliner, so that was a Big Deal. Kate and I agreed that this would be her last recital: she has been in both dance and gymnastics and I wanted her to choose her favorite. She chose gymnastics, and I think that was a good choice on her part. She really loves gymnastics a lot, and I think she's progressing better in gymnastics anyway.

But, she's learned some dance skills for sure.

Grandpa Jack and Grandma Kay gave them real live flowers.

For a mere $35 a month, plus a costume fee, plus a recital fee, plus the cost of shoes, tights, and leotards, your child can learn the grace and carriage of a dancer:

Money well spent, I say!

Kate was a turtle and a flower.

Kiki was a baby clam and a hedgehog (The theme of the recital was Alice in Wonderland).

Maggie is the 3rd from the left.
Totally synchronized.
Kate as a flower: she's about dead center.
Kiki as a hedghog: she's on the right end.

Big finish.
Really. It was a big finish.
They both did great. We are very proud of them.

Both girls look like they enjoyed the performance. It seems like a fun recital. All of the hidden fees involved in dance really get to me.

Well, at least they didn't dress her up in a horse costume...

clippity, clomp, clippity, clomp...

hilarious.

They are obviously naturals! Cheryl and I finally caved and signed up the girls for dance and tumbling last week. Seeing this makes me excited for the recital.

So cute! Let me know the next time. I love coming to these sort of things. It keeps me in the running as favorite step-auntie and I always get a GREAT chuckle.

Oops, I mean bonus-auntie.
