Kate decided she wanted her ears pierced. I've never had a set age in mind that I wanted the girls to wait for to have their ears pierced. I know some think 8 years, some say 12, and I've always thought, "Who cares? Whenever they want." Kate wanted. I spent a day or two "educating" her about what was to happen, and Wednesday we went to the mall to have it done.
While we were there, Kiki said she wanted her ears pierced too, so I figured I might as well get the 6 weeks of ear cleaning over with all at once. I did tell her that it was going to hurt, that she had to watch Kate get it done first, and that if she got one ear pierced, no matter how bad it hurt, she was sucking it up and getting the second one done.
Kate was a trooper. She whimpered a little but no tears.
Kiki flipped. She was really crying, but she sat tight and took it, just like she had promised she would. Although, when the gal who pierced Kiki's ears for her picked up a hand mirror and asked Kiki if she wanted to see her earrings, Kiki said, "NO!" and her tone clearly insinuated that she thought the ear-piercing woman was a real bitch.

At what age are you letting them pierce that little piece of cartilage at the opening of their ear canal? I believe I know someone who had that done, do YOU?!?!
I looked it up, it is a tragus.
Kudos on your willingness to clean ears. Don't judge me, but I won't let any daughters who land in my family get their ears pierced until they are 12. I had to clean my own little infected ears and they will have to do the same. ;)
I got my ears pierced at age five because Soni Bunker said I was too big of a baby to do it. Well. . .I showed her. Looks like your girls did too! FUN!!
I remember the day we came to AF and Melanie decided she wanted her ears pierced because her cousin Rebecca had just had them done. So off Aunt Merrilee and I went to the mall. Once there your cousin Amy just had to have hers done too, just like your kids. The only problem even though Amy was forwarned: Once the first ear was done, she wasn't going to have the second one done. I'm surprised I wasn't turned in for child abuse as the second one was done with a child being held down, and loud scream going through the whole mall. At least that's the way I remember it!
