Good-Bye, Babyhood...

Bruce teases me because I always have plans for "what's next" for our home. I've one month plans, one year plans, and five year plans, and I think we are pretty good at executing them. On the list has been that I would move the girls into a shared bedroom that would mainly be just for sleeping, then the extra bedroom upstairs could be their playroom. I began the transition today because Kiki and Kate have been sleeping together for weeks, and I figured Kiki was done with her nursery. Of course, as at the beginning of any such project, chaos reigned.
It took me several hours, but the transition is complete. I threw a bunch of stuff away (I sneaked to the back door like a thief in the night silently praying, "Please don't let the girls catch me with this crap..."). The girls are excited with the playroom, and their bedroom looks so much better and so uncluttered! I have a few finishing touches in both rooms and I'm done.

I did get a little bit sad as I took down the crib and other baby furniture. It is the end of the era with my baby Maggie. I'm not quite ready for her to be a big girl- I need longer with chubby thighs and dimpled hands and baby talk. I think she'll indulge me. I gathered all the baby stuff together to be stored at Jack's until Liza is ready for it, and Kiki begged for me to get down her old bouncer chair. From the looks of things, she isn't ready to give up babyhood either.

So are you saying that projects around the house never end? I am already so sick of it! James promised that our next house we can have profesional painters:)

Kiki looks huge in that bouncy seat. By some miracle, Sophie at 2 1/2 has still never attempted to flee her crib. I've even egged her on and told her to get out herself. She simply replies, "I can't!" The crib stays for now! Plus she doesn't have a sister that she can be the pillow for. That picture was so cute!

It is a sad day when the baby stays in longer...but then again it definitely has it's upsides too. Besides they'll always be babies in my book! You'll need to post pictures of the new rooms!!!
