I'll sum up how the babysitting is going. I told Charlie, "Quit yanking on your sister's shirt." It was said in a very reasonable tone of voice on my part, and yet he turned to me, started shrieking something unintelligible, went red in the face, and then said, "My mom is NICE!" Hate to break to you, Charlie, but your mom left you here and went to Hawaii without you, so I don't know how "nice" she actually is.
I've a problem with clutter. Not that I collect clutter, but something opposite. Clutter of any kind makes my top 3 pet peeves list. I'm not completely obsessive, but I admit that few things satisfy me more than a long expanse of kitchen counter with absolutely nothing on it. I try to be realistic, and believe me, my house can get downright disgusting. Clutter to me, though, is like a low volume radio playing static all day long. It may not be an intolerable irritant, but it's an irritant nevertheless.
That being said, I tried to be a "Fun Mom" and gave the kids pipe cleaners to play with, thinking that they would make flowers or cars or butterflies or something. Instead I got this:

That's what you get for trying to be 'nice.' I gave up on the nice mom about 4 years ago.
Becca,
How soon we forget? Wasn't it you who dinged your sister in the head with her lunch bucket? Talk about nice! Don't forget your past, so cut Charlie some slack.
Just find your happy place and get through it, knowing that they aren't staying forever and you will soon be able to retake the house!! :)
do you possibly think that you may just have a wee bit of gramma Judd in you.
You want clutter, come back to my house. Oh yeah, you said you would sometime!! At least their art work is not all over the floor; I'm sure you cleaned that up already. :)
I'm laughing so hard. I gave L and J some pipe cleaners. I, too, wanted to be a fun mom. L wrapped one so tight in her dolls hair that I thought I was going to have to cut it out!
So long, fun mom. Say hello, to mild dictatorship.
