My friend Jen told us about
a farmer's market that takes place every Saturday by her house called Salcedo Market. We met her there today, and it did not disappoint. We found whole wheat bread, corn on the cob, some delicious lettuce and salad dressing, and a beautiful parol, which is a star shaped lantern that is a very traditional Christmas decoration here. Also, Bruce brought a broom which he is extraordinarily excited about. We are enjoying the culture here- the foods (most but not all) and handicrafts, but the weather is still a challenge for us. It was so hot and humid today that I sweat and sweat and sweat. Kiki told me to "stop dripping."

| Every Saturday, they roast a whole cow! and sell the meat. We got there at 11 in the morning and this was all that was left. |
Sometimes we tell ourselves that living here isn't SO different from living in the States, and then we'll see a sign like the one below (it was on the bathroom door at the market), and we realize we are delusional.

| Heck yes, we took a picture of it. You guys would never believe that this was true if we didn't. |
After the market, we went for some Indian food. It was so delicious, and while Kiki stuck with bread and rice with butter, Kate is proving to be a more adventurous eater and happily consumed Chicken Tikka, Chicken Masala, Chicken Kurma, Naan, and Raita. The Indian food here is so delicious.
Our next stop of the day was the local sporting goods store: Jen and I registered for the Corregidor Challenge. It's next Saturday and is a race around Corregidor Island (I'm in the half marathon so I am anticipating 3 or 4 laps around or something of that nature.). I'm a little nervous to run a race in this climate! Hopefully the heat and humidity don't turn me into a crumpled heap. Actually, the thing making me the most nervous is that we are cutting it close timewise to make it back in time for the branch Christmas party. It wouldn't be a big deal except for that I'm playing all the music.
Will it still feel like Christmas if the accompanist is wearing a tank top and shorty shorts and stinks to high heaven?

Oh the Indian Food sounds amazing. I have to say, I made a great Tikka Masala the other day and I'm trying to conquer Butter Chicken.
Did you get my invite? I dont' know how long it takes but I mailed it about 2 weeks agao.
Good luck!! I'm cheering you on from the states. I also love that you always double book...1/2 marathon and a baby shower...1/2 marathon and a Christmas party. You are wonder woman, no doubt. Good luck!
