I've Lost My Faith in Humanity

Today is one of those days! I have felt like I have seen some of the worst aspects of human nature. (Yes, it's to do with the dissolution of Bruce's business partnership. That's all I'll say.) It has made both Bruce and I feel a little discouraged. It's really hard to realize that there are people in this world who will do anything, manipulate anything, say anything, and rationalize anything just so they can have what they feel is the best for them. I guess we are all like that in a way, but while the majority of us are working to temper those tendencies, there are a few select others who are fanning a flame around their very worst qualities. We've lost a friendship and a partnership over this. I'm not saying that we are 100 percent in the right either, but those of you who know Bruce even a little know that he is a straight shooter and a decent guy, so you do the math about why the partnership failed. Grrr. Is there redemption ahead? I can only hope so.

I've had a few bright spots today- mainly from my funny piano students. I'll admit that I was very nervous to become a piano teacher, because I'm not one of those people who naturally gravitates to kids. However, as I've begun to build relationships with my students, they have revealed some very endearing things about themselves. Some of them are downright hilarious. A sampler from today: "C" (who is a little ray of sunshine, seriously) said that when she was switching piano teachers her mom told her all about my grand piano and how fun it was going to be to get to play it. Of course I beamed a little because I do love my piano. Then I asked "C" if it was all she imagined it would be and she said point blank, "No." Knife to the heart! Then, a little boy "T" remarked on his way out, "This lesson only seemed like ten minutes today!" I tapped my sense of sarcasm to reply, "Instead of the four hours it usually seems like?" (Aren't I hilarious?) and "T" said, "Actually, they usually seem more like FIVE hours." I was kidding, he was dead serious. It made for an awkward humor exchange.

I think some thing is going with the universe. It must be the recent meteor shower. I've had the same kind of day. Thank goodness for your piano students. It sounds like they add to fun to your life. Hang in there!

You know who I turn to during these times...Oprah. Yup, You know she recommends a book called "The Secret" (have you heard of it?? :))--in it, you can learn that if you just "wish" it hard enough, your dreams can come true.
I think that if you just keep wishing that an unfortunate accident will castrate Mr. X then eventually he is bound to have a nasty mishap with the food processor. Oh, and by the way. I won't come to your house until you give me a couple of dates to choose from....
unless its the 21st and then, too bad. I'll be there anyway. xoxoxo hang in there...
