A Trip to Pocatello

Jack, Kate, and I went to visit the Shelton's in Pocatello. Jack went to do a little work around the house, and Kate and I went because we missed them so much and we couldn't pass up the chance to go. Bruce's parents were kind enough to watch Kiki for a couple of days, so I even was able to leave the worst traveler behind.

I miss my sister every day. I am on an alternating prayer system: "Please God, if she is going to be away, make sure she is happy." and then the next time, "Please, God, make her HATE Pocatello and move home immediately." I don't think they are moving back for a while, because they seem very happy in Idaho. I guess I will try to be a big enough person to be okay with that.

Let's Play A Game!!Create three matching outfits out of the items above. Can't do it? Then stop judging me! I let Kate pack for herself, and although the matching was not so good, she did remember lots of clean underwear, PJ's, and a toothbrush, so I guess the basics were covered.

Dave treated us to dinner at the Red Lobster.

Jack and I took on the tricky topic of why Red Lobster has a big fish tank out front. In the innocent minds of Elise and Kate, it was a mindless diversion from the monotony of waiting for a table. When they finally asked what all the lobsters were for, Jack and I revealed that the tank actually served a much more sinister purpose. Upon learning that the lobsters would soon be someone's dinner, Kate said, "I'm getting the chicken strips." Jack said, "Really? Because I can take you to the chicken coop out back." When Elise ate a shrimp, Kate immediately inspected her chicken, saying, "I hope mine doesn't have a tail."

We went to the canyon after dinner.

I hollered, "DOG!" when I saw this monster coming, but it in no way prepared Jack and Liza for the behemoth that was soon upon them. This husky turned out to be very friendly, and it's a good thing, because he weighed at least 130 lbs and had paws the size of plates.

Kate was proud to catch a grasshopper all by herself.

We visited the zoo. The weather was perfect!

The girls grooming the goats.

Jack and Liza in a giant treehouse. Elise said, "The treehouse Grandpa Jack built me is just like this except for the slide is different."

In our scary masks.

I actually don't have a picture of one of my favorite moments in Pocatello, which was Charlie running around pointing an open tampon and saying, "Shotgun! Shotgun!" Charlie is a little unpredictable. He turned his Capri Sun into a geyser during dinner, and you can tell Liza is on high alert at all times. I asked for a paper towel this morning, and she was totally paranoid her boy had done something terrible that she was going to have to clean up, when all I needed was somewhere to put my toast. What a fun visit! Thanks, Liza, Dave, Elise, and Charlie for hosting us, and Grandpa Jack for driving us. xoxo
