Races, Not Kids. I decided I would run 10 races this summer, and got two under my belt this weekend.
First stop, the Orem 5k. This picture is about mile 2, and I wasn't even miserable, although I did let Bruce push the girls the last mile. I also got snappy with Bruce when he tried to bring his ipod to run with, and then got snappier when he tried to make casual conversation during the run. Sorry, Babe.

Kiki found my slow stride extremely soothing.

Bruce stuck by my side the whole time, even though I slowed him down a little. And yes, I'm sporting a running skirt, and I dig it! Bruce worried it was worn like a kilt until I pointed out the super short running shorts built in. He was relieved.

After Saturday's race, Kate was excited to try her own, so I signed her up for the Harrington Memorial Mile in American Fork this morning. Bruce ran with her and I ran my second 5k for the weekend. I shaved almost 3 minutes off of my time- I didn't get faster, I just wasn't pushing 85 lbs of kids/stroller. Plus, I had some real motivation in the last mile when I almost got passed by an (obviously) pregnant lady. There was no way in heck I was going to get beat by a lady in her third trimester.
Yay for Kate!

She came in second in her age group! She ran a mile in 11 minutes and she ran the whole time. There was a former Olympian in the one mile race, so we can say that Kate has run with an Olympian (For about a quarter of a second. He ran the mile so fast that he was back at the starting line in time to run the 5k also.).

That is such a good goal! Maybe next year you can do the wasatch back with me ;D
You are rockin that running skirt. You make it all look effortless. Just like those women who have perfect makeup and their hair done-no sweat streaks, no red face, no bed head-in all their immediately after giving birth pictures. AMAZING!
Love your sassy running attire. You look great! Congrats on your running weekend and Kate's success. I'm not sure I could do a mile in 11 minutes. Better yet, I don't even know if I could run a mile without stopping. Obviously, she takes after her amazing mom.
Very impressed! Maybe one day I will join you.
Way to go Becca AND Kate! That's awesome...and really sad to think your 5 year old would beat me in a 5K. Good job girls!
You look fantastic, Becca! All your ridiculously early gym visits are obviously paying off. Go easy on Bruce. I can't run without my tunes either. It might just be a Hatch thing.
Okay you are a such a hottie! You look amazing! I need one of those running skirts...although I probably would not do it justice!
Little Katie, keep running! Just 599 more miles to Aunt Cheryl's!
xoxo
