Monday Night Update

What a busy weekend! Liza, Dave, Elise, and Charlie came down to stay Friday night. It gave me a good incentive to clean up the guest rooms, because just moments before Liza called to tell me they were coming, I had scattered baby clothes all over trying to find some pajamas to fit Kiki. That kid grows so fast. Charlie had a rough night, meaning we ALL had a rough night. On the bright side, I was up early enough to make quiche and pumpkin muffins for everyone's breakfast. Yes, from scratch. Liza, the kids, and I went with Grandpa Jack to the hottest spot in town on Saturday- the McDonald's playland. Kate and Elise immediately lost themselves in a series of tubes which all smelled like diapers, and Kiki contented herself to eat an entire Happy Meal plus some of Kate's. I guess the "Mighty" Happy Meal is in my not-too-distant future. Fortunately, Grandpa Jack thinks our kids are entertaining and not just obnoxious.
We then decided to brave Ikea, which was a big mistake. It was totally crowded and we all had a meltdown. That's enough said about that. Lindsay (who is a saint or crazy) volunteered to take all the Hatch kids and Shelton kids while Bruce, Dave, Liza, and I went to dinner. It was a quiet meal and we actually had a conversation!! Thanks a million to Lindsay. The Shelton's all headed home, and I dragged Bruce to see "Definitely, Maybe." He was in hell but I thought it was good. I will recommend it with a disclaimer that it is cute and fluffy. Don't expect a lot of plot and you won't be disappointed.
Sunday morning got off to an exciting start. Kiki choked on a Goldfish and I administered the Heimlich in the pew during sacrament meeting. She expelled the offending item right into Bruce's scriptures and then began screaming. It was fear, I'm sure, because she seemed really panicked. I tolerated the joking about how call it the heimlich or not, I was really just spanking her. After church I helped my mom move a few things to her storage unit, and then our friends Jim and Dara came for dinner. Bruce enjoyed a Sunday night without feeling sick about going to work the next morning, which was a nice change of pace for him.
And today, a workout, lunch with the girls and Bruce, and a second trip to Ikea (I know, crazy) for an exchange. Family home evening with our friends, and I'm ready for bed. Unfortunately, Kate is still going strong. I may have to get out the Benadryl. Kidding. No one call DCFS.

How fun to see Liza! And I'm sorry about the choking incident. So scary! At least she didn't throw up after. Also, I know it's wild, especially with kids, but I am so jealous that Ikea is just around the corner from you. It's the greatest place ever. EVER!
