The post is 2 days late, but my wishes were actually a day early. I've decided I really hate the word "step-sister." Maybe I took one too many reads of Cinderella as a child, but it just has negative connotations for me. I cringed inside everytime someone asked, "Now who is Amber?" and I'd say, "My step-sister. But she's really great. She not like an evil stepsister..." So the word is banned. She's now my "bonus sister." (And Jody and Emilee, too.) It better describes the relationship between us- who expects new sisters when you are in your 30's? I didn't, but I was pleasantly surprised by them, so of course they are bonuses.
Amber's birthday was on Sunday. We celebrated by eating too much food and playing a vicious game of croquet. My name is on the fridge as the winner, but it won't last long and I will personally guarantee that. I'm really crappy at croquet and the win was pure luck. Well, pure luck and the fact that the frontrunners were hyper-competitive and so single-minded in their attempts to eliminate each other that no one noticed that I actually had a chance.

I don't know Amber, but I'll start by wishing her a Happy Birthday and agree with you that "step" sister does have a somewhat evil connotation.

You've got me thinking a bonus sister would be nice. Especially when I am mad at my one and only current sister.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, B! And for the most AMAZING recipe book ever. I love LOVE love it. You sure know how to make a "bonus sister" feel loved. I too would cringe when I'd tell people about my "really cool step-sister B." Really cool and step-sister just don't go well in the same sentence, but once again, your clever ways have paid off. Bonus sisters we are from here on out. Hope we get to hang out again soon. Kiss your girls for me! And congrats on the croquet win. It was very well deserved.
