Prayers Needed

Please take a moment and pray for Preston, John, and Lindsay. Preston had a bike accident last night and has broken his femur from hip to knee. He is currently in surgery at Primary Children's. I know that John and Lindsay both would appreciate your support and love for their precious boy.

UPDATE: Preston is now out of surgery, and is in a cast from chest to toes. He is doing well, except he feels that his cast is "dumb," his car seat is "dumb," and his wheelchair also "dumb." His recovery time will be a couple of months, but we are so happy that his surgery went as it should have. Hopefully he will be home later today.

It's amazing how quickly a world can turn upside down. John, Lindsay, and Preston are a close and loving family who were just out for a fun night at the canyon. In an instant things have changed, and they will need that closeness that they have developed to get them through the next few months. My heart goes out to them.

Kate is very worried for her cousin. She has had lots of questions. "Where is he? When can he come home? What is the hospital like? Are the doctors mean or nice? How will he sit up to the bar? How will he get into his playroom?" I have tried to answer them all without alarming her. She seems to have made her peace, but she wants him to come home as soon as possible. Finally she said, "People in wheelchairs can still play ball. I've seen them, and they just have to throw the ball really close." I think Preston better watch out, because Kate is going to have him in the Paralympics before he knows what's happened.
