Happy Halloween!

Since we basically skipped Halloween last year, Kate and Kiki were double excited for Halloween this year.  We ordered their costumes weeks ago.  Kate was a vampire and Kiki was a dragon.  Kiki was so funny...she didn't believe that the kids would actually wear costumes to school so she refused, instead packing her cape in her backpack.  She did put it on for the costume parade at school, but I noticed that she took it right back off when she got back to class.  She must take after her mother.

Bruce's office had their annual trick or treat.  The girls look forward to it because it is all kinds of candy with very little legwork.  Bruce was an extremely frightening scarecrow.  I caved to the pressure and wore a set of cat ears, but my thoughts are this:  1) Halloween is for kids.  2) When's Thanksgiving?

Then, it was time to trick or treat at home.  We picked out LaBoeuf's costume the day we got him, and he had grown so much in just a week it almost didn't fit.
He was a "LaBEE."
Funny, no?

He's sure affectionate.

Forget the bee costume.
I shall caption this one:
Demo"cat" and Re"pup"lican.
And Kate.

A friend of my sister-in-law brought this awesome meat face dip to her birthday party a couple of weeks ago, and I had to duplicate it for my mom's annual Halloween chili dinner.

By the time night trick or treating rolled around, Kiki agreed to let Bruce paint her face.  Thank goodness for him because anything even remotely artistic is way outside of my comfort zone.

Yes, Halloween in Utah was warm enough that I wore flip flops!
And you all thought global warming was a problem.

Powder had a costume too:
Walking Corpse.

All that trick or treating wore out LaBoeuf.  Fortunately Dan had a lap and was ready to cuddle.
I think a good time was had by all...the girls got an insane amount of candy.  I let them have at it for a couple of days then confiscated most of it, and they were so candied out they didn't even protest.

On a side note, LaBoeuf had his first vet visit on Friday.  Everything checked out great, and I was so relieved that I waltzed right out of the vet's office without even paying.  Whoopsy.

Mini Adventures

There's nothing super exciting happening around here...but we are keeping busy with some little things.

We are on a quest to visit every dinosaur museum possible!  BYU's Paleontology department has a little museum across the street from the stadium and we went to check it out.

We also made a trip to Pocatello with Grandpa Jack to see Charlie, play with the girls, and to work on a garage.  He didn't have his second cast yet, but spirits were high.

Dave and Jack worked hard on Saturday, and Jack only had to threaten Dave once that if he cut another board short Jack was going to start labeling all the short ones with Dave's name.
And, in the separate but equal department: Powder has adjusted well to our new intruder.  She loves it outside, he likes it inside, they have separate feeding areas and sleeping spots.  However, next to his shiny coat, she was looking a little mangy, so Bruce gave her a good brushing.
Only hours later, I brushed her again and got that much hair the second time too.

Our New Addition

We have been talking about getting a new dog for many months now, but the time hadn't seemed right.   After my running friends had a legitimate scare on the trail system near our house we decided that it was time to get a dog for me to run with.  All the pieces fell into place and the very morning we said, "It's time," Bruce found this little cutie on KSL.  We kept it a secret from the girls, and when Bruce pulled up, I just said, "I think your dad has a surprise for you in the car."  They were so shocked that we ACTUALLY HAD A PUPPY that they didn't even act excited.

We have named him LaBoeuf ("LaBeef") after a character in the book/movie "True Grit."  He is 12 weeks old now and is a smart boy.  He is settling into his crate every night and is getting used to his leash.  He is learning a few commands, mainly "NO!" and "DROP IT!" but he gets lots of cuddles and "Good Boy"s too.
"Let me get this straight...when you toilet train you go in the toilet, when you potty train you go in the potty, so when you house train you go in the house, right?  Guys, why are you yelling at me again?"

"Throw pillows make me SO. ANGRY."

"The only thing that makes me angrier is this lamb."

"When I feel like eating panties I like them as dirty as possible."

The girls are very unsettled by LaBoeuf's penis...there's not a lot of boys in our lives so this is very foreign.  They call it his "lipstick" and when he sleeps like this Kiki will close his legs and said, "You need to keep that to yourself."
He was trying to hump Kate and she thought he wanted a "piggy back ride."
It's going to be hard to keep these two innocent with the new male in the house.
We are happy to have our new little "baby" and hope he is ready to run by spring!
